How can Ethiopia ensure that digital learning benefits every student, regardless of ability, language, or location? The November episode of EdTech Mondays Ethiopia will tackle this question, exploring how inclusivity can be embedded at the heart of education technology initiatives across the country.
The program, airing at 8:10 p.m. EAT tonight on Fana FM 98.1 and ten partner stations nationwide, will examine strategies to make EdTech accessible to Ethiopia’s diverse learners. The discussion will focus on how governments, private sector players, and community stakeholders can design solutions that accommodate students with disabilities, multilingual populations, and marginalized groups, including rural youth and girls.
Moderated by journalist, producer, and cyber reporter Rediet Meshesha, the panel will feature a disability inclusion specialist, a youth representative, an EdTech entrepreneur, and a community-based educator. Topics will include integrating assistive technologies, developing multilingual and multimodal content, and fostering public-private-community partnerships that address persistent disparities in access to digital learning tools.
Panelists will also explore the role of government in embedding inclusivity into policy, infrastructure, and teacher training, ensuring that technology investments translate into meaningful learning outcomes. Practical approaches such as subsidized connectivity for low-income households, co-creation with indigenous and disability-focused organizations, and robust evaluation metrics will be highlighted as ways to widen opportunity rather than entrench existing gaps.
EdTech Mondays Ethiopia is part of a continent-wide initiative led by the Mastercard Foundation to foster informed discussions on the use of technology for teaching and learning. Produced by Shega Media & Technology in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation Ethiopia, the series has previously addressed topics ranging from a unified policy for EdTech to digital infrastructure and rural inclusion, providing a platform for evidence-based dialogue that informs policy and practice.
