What if Ethiopia’s education, ICT, and finance ministries worked from a single playbook on EdTech? As digital learning tools gradually expand across Ethiopia, the October episode of EdTech Mondays Ethiopia will delve into how a unified policy framework could help government ministries and private sector players coordinate efforts and unlock the full potential of education technology.

The program, airing tonight at 8:10 p.m. EAT on Fana FM 98.1 and ten partner stations nationwide, will examine how ministries such as Education, ICT, and Finance can break down silos to build a cohesive, whole-of-government approach to EdTech.

Fragmented initiatives have long limited the impact of technology in classrooms. A unified framework seeks to align three critical pillars: infrastructure, digital content, and teacher training, ensuring that investments in one area reinforce progress in the others. Without such coordination, strong connectivity, or devices may sit idle without engaging learning materials, while high-quality content cannot reach students without reliable access or trained educators.

Moderated by journalist, producer, and cyber reporter Rediet Meshesha, the discussion will also draw lessons from international experiences that could help shape Ethiopia’s approach.

Panelists representing government, private sector, and education experts will discuss how cross-sector collaboration can promote inclusivity, extend access to rural areas, and sustain innovation through coherent policies. The discussion will also explore how governments can incentivize private investment in low-income regions while maintaining quality and oversight amid rapid technological change.

EdTech Mondays Ethiopia is part of a continent-wide initiative by the Mastercard Foundation to promote informed dialogue on the future of technology in education. Produced by Shega Media & Technology in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation Ethiopia, the series has previously explored key issues such as blended learning, teacher capacity, rural inclusivity, and digital infrastructure.
