The August edition of EdTech Mondays Ethiopia will explore how Ethiopia can balance regulation and innovation to create a thriving EdTech ecosystem. As digital learning tools continue to evolve, policymakers face the challenge of protecting learners, ensuring quality, and promoting equitable access, without stifling creativity or slowing technological progress.
This month’s conversation will bring together voices from academia, the private sector, and the education community to examine how clear and timely policies can build trust, attract investment, and safeguard the interests of all stakeholders. The discussion seeks to develop concrete insights around effective collaboration among stakeholders in the EdTech ecosystem. Experts will examine how to strike a balance between avoiding excessively restrictive regulations and addressing critical issues such as data privacy, content integrity, and equitable access.
Moderated by journalist, producer, and cyber reporter Rediet Meshesha, the discussion will also draw lessons from international experiences that could help shape Ethiopia’s approach.
EdTech Mondays Ethiopia is part of a continent-wide initiative by the Mastercard Foundation to promote informed dialogue on the future of technology in education. Produced by Shega Media & Technology in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation Ethiopia, the series has previously explored key issues such as blended learning, teacher capacity, and digital infrastructure.
This month’s edition will air at 8:10 p.m. EAT on Monday, 25 August 2025, on Fana FM 98.1 and ten partner stations across Ethiopia.
