The Dubai-based GITEX Global, in its first foreign venture, is coming to Morocco and is inviting Ethiopian startups to take part in a competition that will grant them an all-expenses-paid seat at what could be the continent’s largest all-inclusive tech event.
GITEX Africa, through its startup scout program, aims to discover and showcase 100 best-in-class startups across Africa, and will also feature a Supernova Challenge with $200,000 up for grabs.
Ethiopian startups interested in this opportunity can apply by February 18th, 2023. The winner of the Ethiopia pitch competition will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to both GITEX Africa, scheduled for May 31, and the 2023 GITEX Global event, which will be held later in Dubai.
In addition to the all-expense-paid participation, the winner will receive a branded startup pod to exhibit at both events and be guaranteed entry into the Supernova Challenge 2023 semi-finals.
With Laurendeau & Associates as a local partner, Ethiopian startups can also head to GITEX Africa as a participant, covering the cost themselves.
Last year, more than a dozen Ethiopian startups and companies participated in GITEX Global, and ZMall Delivery won 3rd place in a pitch competition held at GITEX 2022.
GITEX Global, organized by and taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre, is an annual tech expo that aims to celebrate new cutting-edge technologies being created worldwide. The 42nd edition in October 2022 hosted more than 5,000 companies and over 170,000 attendees from 176 countries.
