Airing today, May 26, at 8:10 p.m. EAT on Fana FM 98.1 and ten partner stations, the episode is titled: “Investing in Education Data: The Key to Effective Policy and Planning.”
Ethiopia’s education sector continues to face structural challenges, including fragmented data systems, limited access to timely and reliable information, and inadequate analytical capacity. These barriers hinder efforts to design targeted policies, measure learning outcomes, and allocate resources equitably. This edition of EdTech Mondays will explore how systematic investments in education data can address these gaps, enabling real-time insights, enhancing transparency, and fostering cross-sector collaboration.
Moderated by journalist and Cybergna host Rediet Meshesha, the conversation will bring together local experts and practitioners to discuss the transformative potential of high-quality, well-managed education data. Panelists will delve into practical strategies for improving data collection, analysis, and dissemination, and examine how diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, educators, EdTech innovators, and civil society, can work together to build a robust, data-driven education ecosystem.
The episode will also highlight the importance of community participation in data collection and how public-private partnerships can elevate the quality and impact of education data. By unpacking these themes, the program aims to generate actionable insights that support more inclusive, equitable, and effective learning environments across Ethiopia.
EdTech Mondays Ethiopia is part of a continent-wide initiative by the Mastercard Foundation to promote informed dialogue on the future of technology in education. Produced by Shega Media & Technology in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation Ethiopia, the series has previously explored key issues such as blended learning, teacher capacity, and digital infrastructure.
