The April 2025 edition of EdTech Mondays Ethiopia will focus on the role of innovative financing in strengthening digital infrastructure and leveraging data to improve educational outcomes. Airing today, April 28, at 8:10 pm EAT on Fana FM 98.1 and ten partner stations, the episode will address the theme: “Harnessing Data for Better Educational Outcomes: Innovative Infrastructure Funding.”

Ethiopia’s education system faces persistent challenges, including limited internet connectivity, gaps in data availability and quality, and uneven access to digital tools-particularly in rural and marginalized communities. The episode will examine how targeted investments in digital infrastructure can address these barriers by enabling personalized learning experiences, improving resource allocation, and empowering educators and learners alike.

The discussion, moderated by journalist and Cybergna host Rediet Meshesha, will bring together local experts to assess practical strategies such as public-private partnerships, impact investment, and policy incentives that can drive collaboration across education, technology, and finance sectors. Panelists will consider how Ethiopia can address persistent challenges-such as limited connectivity and data gaps-while exploring the potential for data-driven approaches to personalize learning, allocate resources more effectively, and reach underserved communities.

This edition builds on EdTech Mondays Ethiopia’s ongoing commitment to fostering dialogue around technology’s role in education reform. Previous episodes have addressed topics such as blended learning models, teacher capacity building, and Ethiopia’s Digital Education Strategy-a national framework developed in partnership with organizations including UNICEF, ITU, the World Bank, and the Mastercard Foundation. While technology adoption has accelerated, experts agree that sustainable impact requires coordinated investment in infrastructure, policy, and human capital.

Produced by Shega Media and Technology in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation Ethiopia, the program is part of a continent-wide initiative to encourage informed dialogue on the future of technology in education. The upcoming episode aims to provide stakeholders with clear, actionable insights into how targeted funding and infrastructure improvements can support more inclusive and effective learning environments in Ethiopia.
