Aiming to break down barriers in education and promote equal access, California-based software development firm BirdView has launched Laba.ai, an AI-powered chatbot that allows students to ask questions and receive assistance in their studies.
Laba.ai which uses GPT-4, an advanced version of the GPT series of language models developed by OpenAI, aims to revolutionize the educational landscape for students in Ethiopia, empowering them to achieve their goals and create a brighter future.
Available through both mobile and web-based applications, Laba.ai offers free access up to a certain quota limit. For continued use beyond this limit, an unlimited version can be accessed through a subscription plan.
While Chat GPT has proven to be a valuable AI-driven educational tool for students and teachers around the world, it is not yet available in Ethiopia. This is where Laba.ai steps in, bridging the gap and providing Ethiopian students with access to an advanced AI-powered chatbot tailored to their needs.
By incorporating GPT-4 technology, Laba.ai offers an alternative that fosters learning and facilitates communication among teachers, parents, and students.
Founded by a team of four with offices in San Jose, California, and Addis Ababa, BirdView is committed to providing equal access to quality education for all children, irrespective of location or background.
Laba.ai is just one of the edtech products on the Laba platform. In addition to the chatbot feature, Laba offers several other tools to enhance communication and collaboration between teachers, parents, and students, building an integrated edtech ecosystem in Ethiopia.
The Teacher-Parent Chat simplifies communication by offering a direct messaging system, making it easier for parents to follow class updates. The Laba for Parents mobile app provides student data, including attendance, grades, discipline, and parent communication, in one convenient location.
With the Live Report Card feature, parents can view their child’s assignment and quiz scores as soon as they are graded.
