Entoto Project – Tech Fellowship 2019

The Entoto Project is offering a fully-funded 12-week Tech Fellowship, an introduction to software development & entrepreneurship program for young talented women who have demonstrated a passion for technology and innovation but have limited access to the resources.

Eligibility

To be considered for Entoto Summer fully funded Fellowship, the applicant must:

  • Demonstrate willingness and ability to undertake full-time intensive study for 3 months (June 1st – August 31st, 2019) and to fully engage in the program and be attend all scheduled programs.

  • Demonstrate interest in pursuing a rewarding career in tech.

  • Possess strong communication and personal skills.

  • Have strong academic standings and history.

  • Continually engage with the tech community.

  • Have the ability to transfer the knowledge and skill acquired from the program to their community demonstrated through leadership and community engagements.

  • Be above the age of 18.

Innovation Factory – Digital Innovation Bootcamp 2019

The GIZ Digital Innovation Bootcamp is an opportunity for early-stage innovators who are keen on developing a sustainable business model around their digital innovation ideas. Designed for both business-minds and techies alike, the Digital Innovation Bootcamp cultivates digital start-ups contributing to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals with the capacity and agility to disrupt traditional models and processes.

The 2-day Bootcamp that supports digital innovation in 5 countries: Ethiopia, Ghana, Indonesia, Mexico OR Senegal will be sponsored by The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and includes expert coaches, work materials, as well as catering. Two participants from each innovator (ideally technical expert & business expert) will be able to attend.

Eligibility

Bootcamp applicants will be assessed based on the following criteria:

  • has a digital innovation idea that aims to contribute to sustainable development;

  • has the intention and potential to become financially sustainable;

  • is locally driven or locally-led from one of these 5 countries: Ethiopia, Ghana, Indonesia, Mexico, OR Senegal;

  • and is in the early stages of implementation

The Bootcamp is aimed to help you prepare yourself for the upcoming Digital Innovation Idea Competition 2019 which will be launched in June 2019 and through which you will be able to receive additional acceleration support.

Reach for Change – RAPID SCALE PROGRAM

Reach for Change Ethiopia is looking for established Ethiopian businesses or enterprises with a strong business model, a big vision to create a better world for children, and the ambition, leadership, and track record to make that happen.

Successful applicants will receive intensive, tailored support to develop and implement a successful scaling strategy. They will receive ongoing coaching and training from international and national experts, with exceptional expertise around taking organizations to scale. Depending on their scaling needs, successful applicants may also receive financial support.

Women in Science ( WiSci ) Girls Steam Camp 2019

The Women in Science (WiSci, for short!) Girls’ STEAM Camps are a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for high school girls from around the world to dive into the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Design, Mathematics) subjects alongside their peers and develop their leadership skills, in a unique cross-cultural environment, with all expenses paid.

All selected participants will receive a scholarship to attend the camp free of charge, a value of over $5,000 USD. All costs associated with lodging, food, and activities during the camp are covered.

WiSci Camp is made possible through a public-private partnership, with many partners from around the world, including U.S. Department of State, the Millennium Challenge Corporation, Girl Up, and private sector partners such as Intel and Google, NASA, the American Society for Microbiology, Microsoft, and more!

Applications for the 2019 Ethiopia, Kosovo, Estonia, and Oregon camps is open now.

Eligibility (Ethiopian Girls)

  • Self-identifying girls, ages 15 to 18 at the time of the camp, with at least one year of high school remaining, who are citizens or residents of Ethiopia and the United States of America

  • A citizen or resident of Ethiopia and possess fluency in English

  • If selected, be able to obtain written permission from a parent or guardian.

  • Obtain regular access (at least once per week) to the internet.

  • Able to attend the full duration of camp and have permission from your school if the dates conflict with classes.

  • Have never participated in the WiSci Girls STEAM Camp before and have not had a sibling participant or counselor in the WiSci Girls STEAM Camp before.

  • Have an interest in the STEAM fields and demonstrated leadership potential.
