Behager Lij, a design and art studio, and Awaqi, a youth development center, are teaming up to host an event that aims to provide a unique experience celebrating the legacy of Adwa through digital art.
The event, to be held on Adwa Victory Day, March 2, 2023, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, seeks to offer creatives a platform to showcase their digital art while attendees learn more about Adwa and its historical significance.
“We envision the event as a space for meaningful dialogue and for creating a lasting impact on the community,” said Behager Lij in a statement to Shega.
The organizers will celebrate Adwa Victory Day with a series of engaging shows and activities, beginning with the launch of Behager Lij’s animated short movie, “Zarem Arbegna.” The movie explores the essence of Adwa, its legacy, and the meaning it conveys to the new generation.
Following the movie, an art gallery will showcase the work of numerous talented young Ethiopian digital artists, each with its own title and interactive art piece. Other activities include a panel discussion about the legacy of Adwa, 360-degree camera filming, networking opportunities, and more.
Founded in 2019, Behager Lij has a strong reputation for creating visually charged and story-driven Ethiopian content. The studio has worked with notable organizations such as Ebs TV, Nahoo TV, The British Council, Enat Bank, The Goethe Institute, iceAddis, and many more.
Behager Lij has also partnered with Awaqi on multiple occasions to produce uplifting and inspirational stories.
Awaqi was launched by the BRIDGES program, which is a part of the Mastercard Foundation’s Young Africa Works strategy in Ethiopia. The program is implemented in partnership with First Consult, a local consulting firm.
Since its creation in 2021, it has produced content on mindset, soft skills, entrepreneurship, and employability, with the aim of inspiring youth towards self- and wage employment.
