The Ministry of Innovation and Technology (MinT), in partnership with the Ethiopian ICT Park and RCNDC Consultancy, has launched Future Tech Addis, a three-year, biannual forum and exhibition aimed at driving technology, innovation, and foreign investment.
The initiative sets an ambitious plan to attract a total of 1,000 businesses from across the world over the next three years.
During the press conference held at the Ministry of Innovation and Technology office, Henok Ahmed, the CEO of the Ethiopian ICT Park, emphasized that the park is ready to accommodate the investment flows that Future Tech Addis aims to generate.
He highlighted extensive infrastructure developments, including major upgrades to power capacity, backup systems, and sustainable internet connectivity. These enhancements, combined with the park’s existing acceleration and incubation centers, are the key assets he is counting on to attract and support new businesses.
“The core mission of the expo, which will prioritize business opportunities and investment in key sectors including Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and E-commerce,” said Redwan Abdu of RCNDC, the Expo’s Implementing partner.
The three-year timeline to attract 1,000 international companies sets a high bar for the initiative, which will hold its first biannual forum from November 28 to 30, 2025.
Future Tech Addis, much like the 5 Million Coders Initiative, is being positioned as one of the cornerstones of the government’s broader Digital Ethiopia 2025 strategy, aimed at attracting global technology players.
