Internet Development Conference 2025

The Internet Development Conference 2025 will focus on enhancing Internet infrastructure and regulatory frameworks within the IGAD region (Intergovernmental Authority on Development), which includes Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Somalia, South Sudan, and Djibouti. Building on the success of the 2020 Ethiopia IDC, this event will bring together key stakeholders to address regional connectivity challenges, strengthen cooperation, and support the growth of a vibrant Internet economy.
IDC 2025 will provide a platform for knowledge sharing, professional networking, and collaboration on crucial initiatives like establishing Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) and supporting community networks in underserved areas.
The conference aims to foster a more integrated and robust Internet ecosystem in the IGAD region, promoting cross-border learning, enhancing regional cooperation, and supporting the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCTA).

The Great Rift Valley Innovation Summit

Advancing Internet Development in Ethiopia and Beyond

The Internet Society Ethiopia Chapter is thrilled to host the Pre-IDC event. This unique gathering brings together Ethiopian and African internet development leaders, policymakers, technologists, and civil society advocates to address key challenges and opportunities in internet accessibility, digital inclusion, and policymaking in the region.
The theme Internet for All Ethiopians highlights crucial discussions on enhancing internet access and digital inclusion in Ethiopia. Key topics include the development of internet infrastructure through ROAM-X IUIs, recognizing internet access as a fundamental human right and its impact on local communities, and strategies to connect underserved populations via community networks.
The summit will also address the regulatory framework governing telecom services in Ethiopia particularly concerning cloud service provision, as well as exploring various facets of digital inclusion to ensure equitable access for all citizens.
