Safaricom Ethiopia announced today the launch of its first-ever national consumer promotion, Terek be Gursha, which will reward over one million customers for joining and utilizing the 07 network’s products and services.
The 14-week campaign will provide customers with unique codes when purchasing a Safaricom SIM card, recharging airtime, buying packages, or using WhatsApp bundles.
Customers can receive up to 10 codes per day, entering them into a draw for daily, bi-weekly, or monthly prizes. Prizes include three cars, seven Bajajs, seven motorbikes, smartphones, tablets, and bonus airtime. Anwar Soussa, CEO of Safaricom Ethiopia, emphasized the importance of putting customers at the heart of the business and recognizing their loyalty.
For every 10 Birr spent on airtime top-up, Voice, SMS, or Data packages, existing customers will receive one code. New customers will receive three codes when purchasing a SIM card and topping up within 24 hours, and seven codes for using the free 1GB WhatsApp package. The promotion is also open to enterprise customers and will run until July 5, 2023.
Bi-weekly lottery draws, in partnership with the National Lottery Authority, will determine the winners. Safaricom Ethiopia representatives will contact winners of cars, Bajajs, motorbikes, and devices, with instructions on claiming their prizes at local Safaricom shops. Airtime prize winners will receive an SMS from Terek be Gursha and have their accounts automatically recharged.
The promotion aims to attract new customers and reward existing ones on the 07 network. “Our vision with this national consumer promotion is to use our products and services to contribute to the livelihoods of our customers across the country,” said Soussa.
Since its customer pilot launch in August 2022 and official national launch in October 2022, Safaricom Ethiopia has grown its subscriber base to over 2.8 million customers throughout the country.
