WIDU Relaunches Original Grant: Up to €5,000 for Returning Entrepreneurs

WIDU's Original Grant has been upgraded to €5,000 for returning entrepreneurs in six African countries. This initiative promotes sustainable business growth through a shared investment model and early-stage coaching support.

WIDU has relaunched its Original Grant with an upgrade: eligible entrepreneurs who have previously received funding (first or second round) can now apply for up to €5,000 in support of a move designed to fuel business growth over multiple stages

Who this is for

  • Entrepreneurs in Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Togo, and Tunisia who have already completed at least one WIDU project
  • Your business must show measurable progress and have clear goals for scaling.

What you get

  • Up to €5,000 total, jointly funded by the entrepreneur, diaspora partner, and WIDU (1:1:1 matching)
  • Early-stage coaching, delivered before formal decision-making—so your proposals are stronger from Day 1

How to apply

  1. Log in to your WIDU.africa profile if you've previously participated.
  2. Complete the online application along with your diaspora donor (they must also log in).
  3. Submit your updated growth plan and leverage coaching to refine it before review.

WIDU is shifting from seed-stage support (€2,500 initial grant) to growth-stage investment, reinforcing long-term sustainability through shared responsibility and diaspora involvement.

Since 2019, WIDU has injected over €11.1 million into more than 7,000 businesses across Africa using the unique diaspora match model. If you're a WIDU alum aiming to scale your venture, don’t miss this upgraded grant.
