Embassy of Finland in Ethiopia Offers up to €200K for Civil Society & Private Sector Initiatives

The Embassy of Finland in Addis Ababa is calling on Ethiopian civil society and private sector actors to apply for the Fund for Local Cooperation, with grants of up to €200,000 available.

The Embassy of Finland in Addis Ababa is inviting proposals from Ethiopian civil society organizations and private sector companies for the Fund for Local Cooperation (FLC), offering funding between €100,000 and €200,000. 

 

 

The FLC supports initiatives aligned with Finland’s development priorities in Ethiopia, focusing on three objectives:

  • Women’s economic empowerment & technology-based entrepreneurship – inspiring women-led businesses and contributing to Ethiopia’s digital transformation.
  • Peace, security & democratic development – promoting peaceful conflict resolution, mediation, and governance reforms.
  • Rights of women, girls, youth, people with disabilities, & vulnerable groups – advancing inclusion, equality, and protection.

 

 

Funding

  • Up to €120,000 for women’s economic empowerment and tech entrepreneurship (2–3 projects)
  • Up to €200,000 for peace, security, and democracy (2–4 projects)
  • Up to €100,000 for rights of women, youth, and vulnerable groups (2–3 projects)

 

 

Eligibility
Applicants must be legally registered in Ethiopia, operational for at least 3 years, and aligned with Finland’s development priorities. Eligible actors include NGOs, CSOs, CBOs, foundations, and private sector entities. Proposals must have a clear results framework, measurable outcomes, and realistic plans.
