Three Ethiopian startups, GoodayOn, Garri Logistics, and Taskmoby, have been selected for the 2022/3 MultiChoice Africa Accelerator Program which aims to support and scale established African startups.

Announcing the list on its social media pages, the DSTV operator selected the three startups, along with 26 others from nine countries,

The startups currently enrolled in the program, which takes place across three different countries, are learning media skills, how to market their businesses to investors, and how to create attractive business plans. At the final event in Dubai next month, 11 startups will be selected for the final pitch phase.

These finalists will attend a dedicated boot camp, where they learn how to shape their story for international investors and become “pitch ready” before their presentations.

Newzroom Afrika, a 24-hour TV news channel on DSTV, will air the journey of these startups as they progress through the program.

“GoodayOn is super excited and thankful to be part of the MultiChoice Africa Accelerator program,” wrote the startup on Twitter.

GoodayOn is one of Ethiopia’s leading gig connection platforms, connecting service providers such as domestic help, tutors, and electricians with service requestors. Taskmoby, funded by Ezana Raswork, is another gig platform operating in Ethiopia.

Meanwhile, Garri Logistics is a digital freight brokerage and transport company leveraging technology to optimize an offline and fragmented industry.

The MultiChoice Accelerator provides startups with a significant opportunity to connect with a vast global network of investors. Last year, the six MultiChoice Accelerator finalists secured $16 million in funding.

The 2022/3 MultiChoice Accelerator was open to established startups and small businesses operating in the technology growth fields of healthtech, agritech, fintech, edtech, the circular economy, and the creative industries.

At the start of the program, public and private sector partners in the nine participating African countries nominated startups or entrepreneurs to take part. From the nominated businesses, 29 were selected to embark on an intensive virtual training course, which takes place over several weeks.
