ConDigital Joins The Baobab Network
ConDigital, a digital platform that is trying to disrupt the construction industry in Ethiopia by providing efficient cloud data management and wider analytical tools for construction projects and the companies involved in Joins The Baobab Network accelerator.
The Baobab Network is an accelerator that backs early stage ventures across Africa and provides a $25,000 funding , customized accelerator programme and access to a global network of corporate partners and investors.
ConDigital told Shega ” The goal is trying to create a healthy, efficient and growing industry by minimizing the opportunities for corruption and inefficiency that is battling and hurting the industry”
Jamii Pay Launches Pilot for Digitizing 5000 Saving Groups
Jamiipay a fintech startup that offers digital platform and app to help registers people’s saving activities in Ethiopia launches a pilot to digitize 5000 Savings groups.
Jamiipay wants to bring already existing savings groups to online by helping them document there activities and offline records. This will help for the saving group participants to have an digital identity and a credit score which will then be linked to a formal financial institutions to facilitate loans.
Internet Users in Ethiopia Reaches 22.7 Million
Ethio Telecom released 2012 (2019/20) first half business performance report. According to the report Ethio Telecom made a 22.04 Billion ETB ( around $670 million ) which is 104% of the target and 32% increase from the same period of the last budget year.
The number of mobile phone subscribers reached 44.03 M while the number of Data and Internet users reached 22.7 million. This is shows an increase of 3.25 million users comparing to December 2018 number which was 19.49 million. Read more here.
Kudu Backs Two Ethiopian Startups
Kudu Ventures, an Impact focused early stage VC, announced it’s investment on a health tech platform called Etege and an Edutech startup called Askual Tech. Kudu Invested invested about 2 million Birr ( $62,000) together in both startups. Read more here.
R&D Becomes 10 Year old
R&D Group a pioneer Business outsourcing organization in Ethiopia that started exporting data by hiring university students and young graduates in 2010 celebrated it’s 10 year anniversary.
R&D partnered with dutch software company, Ajax Amsterdam football Club and mother company Holland to provide high-quality data from Ethiopia. R&D claims that they are the biggest Sport Analysis Center in Afirca by covering more than 15,000 matches and 40 competitions.
Besides outsourcing R&D has been engaged in HR consulting, Talent development and entrepreneurship acceleration. The 10 year anniversary celebrated at Sky Light Hotel saw a presence of government official and business community.
