Emerging local startup, Viditure Technology Solution, has unveiled Weleta, an innovative digital signature application that transforms the conventional process of signing contracts and agreements in Ethiopia.

Weleta, a pioneering digital signature technology in Ethiopia, replaces traditional pen signatures with digital ones. Available for both Android and iOS users, Weleta enables the creation and signing of documents online, granting businesses instant access to important documents and reducing turnaround times for faster decision-making.

Integrated with Chapa for online payment, Weleta is available through a subscription model with various pricing options. The costs of the subscription range from 150 birr for one-time use to 20,000 birr for companies with high-volume demands.

Founded by Kebron Dejene, Viditure, the tech firm behind Weleta, has been in operation for a while. Their previous projects include Digital INVEA, a platform for issuing passports and yellow cards for Ethiopians, and Digital MOFA, which facilitates document verification and the exchange of delegations between different countries.

“Weleta e-signature platform is a key pillar to transform how we do business in Ethiopia and make our business and life more efficient and productive” said Kebron in a press release sent to Shega.

In 2020, Ethiopia took a significant step towards digital transformation by enacting the Electronic Transaction Proclamation. This proclamation legally recognizes electronic signatures, seals, and information generated in electronic form, as long as they meet specific criteria, including traceability and accessibility for subsequent revision.

Weleta building upon this legislative development, eliminates the need for physical documents and streamlines the process, enhancing accuracy and reducing manual processing.

Furthermore, users can conveniently sign various agreements and contracts by making video agreements through the mobile application, eliminating the need for physical presence.
