Ride-hailing platform Little has introduced a contactless payment service in Ethiopia in partnership with Bank of Abyssinia and Visa. The “Tap to Go” feature allows passengers with international Visa cards to pay fares by tapping their cards on drivers’ phones, eliminating the need for cash or manual entry.

The service also extends to travelers arriving at the airport, allowing them to pay for rides immediately upon landing. The initiative is designed to streamline transactions and provide a faster, more secure payment experience.

Little launched in Ethiopia in March 2022, focusing on corporate clients by offering companies ride-hailing services with monthly billing to simplify transactions. The company said the new service marks a significant step toward expanding payment options to a wider range of customers, including individual users and travelers.

Little’s Country Manager Barouk Almaw stated that the initiative aims to improve convenience and transparency while keeping pace with global payment trends.

The launch comes amid a broader push to modernize payments in Ethiopia, where cash remains dominant and digital financial infrastructure is still developing. Partnerships between fintech firms, banks, and international payment providers are increasingly being tapped into as key to expanding financial inclusion and improving efficiency in urban mobility and commerce.
