GITEX Africa 2023, the largest all-inclusive tech event on the continent, will take place in Marrakech, Morocco, gathering tech giants, governments, SMEs, start-ups, investors, and academia to collaborate and accelerate new ventures in the African digital landscape.
The event, held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of the Kingdom of Morocco, is a joint partnership between KAOUN International, Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), and Moroccan Digital Development Agency (ADD). Affiliated with GITEX Global, GITEX Africa aims to drive a more sustainable, inclusive, and tech-driven digital economy in Africa.
The three-day annual forum will feature over 125 government delegations, 20,000 trade buyers, 500 exhibitors, 250 speakers, and 400 startups from more than 95 countries. It will showcase emerging technologies in fintech, e-commerce, cloud, IoT, AI, telecom, and cybersecurity. The inaugural GITEX Africa is scheduled for May to June 2023 and will host conferences, workshops, and certified trainings led by leading government and tech leaders.
Additionally, it should be noted that the Ministry of Innovation & Technology (MinT) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) organized a pitch competition for Ethiopian tech startups to participate in GITEX Africa 2023.
Eight selected Ethiopian startups will receive dedicated promotional space at the conference and the opportunity to connect with investors, companies, and startup stakeholders. JICA will cover all costs of participation, including flight and visa fees, and marketing pods. Some startups, such as GoodayOn, have already confirmed their participation.
Shega has also formed a partnership with Dubai World Trade Center LLC becoming the event’s official media partner in Ethiopia.
