The Bruh-ICT 2023 Competition has begun accepting applications, calling upon young Ethiopians to submit their innovative ideas in the ICT and digital sector.
The competition which aims to uncover concepts that showcase promise for implementation, expansion, and sustainability in the long run, offers valuable resources, including customized training, incubation, and acceleration support services. Selected participants will also have the chance to secure a seed grant of $5000, alongside receiving continuous coaching and mentoring services.
Launched in 2021 by the then Job Creation Commission, now the Ministry of Labor and Skills, and the Mastercard Foundation, the competition is run by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI).
The competition, now in its second ICT dedicated cohort, will proceed in three stages. Initially, selected applicants will undergo a rigorous month-long bootcamp, receiving intensive training to hone their business ideas, plans, and prototyping skills.
Following this, successful candidates will receive a financial award to jump-start their projects. The competition’s final phase is an acceleration program for the winners. This program will serve as a launchpad, turning their business concepts into fully operational startup companies.
Some of the past winners of Bruh include Omishtu Joy and Husky Energy & Technologies. The Bruh-ICT 2023 Competition is accepting applications until June 15, 2023. Please click here to apply.
