The AYuTe Ethiopia Challenge, an extension of the AYuTe Africa Challenge, seeks innovative, technology-based agricultural solutions that can enhance production and productivity, with three outstanding projects to be awarded a total of $20,000.
Now in its second cohort, the AYuTe Ethiopia Challenge aims to discover agricultural and tech ideas capable of addressing the unique challenges faced by Ethiopia’s smallholder farmers, such as production, productivity, income, access to finance, and/or resilience.
Applications for the AYuTe Ethiopia competition are due by May 28, and the national contest encourages participation from all regions.
The AYuTe Ethiopia Challenge offers a total prize of $20,000, divided among the top three winners: $10,000 for the first place, $6,500 for the second, and $3,500 for the third.
The AYuTe Challenge is an initiative of Heifer International, a development organization dedicated to ending global hunger and poverty. Heifer envisions the vibrant energy of Africa’s youth, combined with emerging technologies, as a powerful catalyst to support smallholder farmers across Africa.
In 2022, national contests in Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, and Uganda were held. Last year’s the Ethiopia chapter celebrated three winners, Meskerem Yemaneh, Yishak Amdeselassie, Samuel Getachew, and Yosef Lakew.
