beU Delivery, one of the largest food delivery startups in Ethiopia, has expanded its services into the ecommerce space. beU now offers a wide range of products on its platform, including grocery items, flowers, gifts, pharmaceuticals, books, and bakery items.
The startup, which has previously indicated that its long-term goal is to become a super app covering online-to-offline (O2O) services, has been fast-growing since its launch in 2021.
In 2022, beU raised $300,000 from the China-based accelerator MiraclePlus (formerly Y Combinator China).
beu offers fast bike door-to-door deliveries and started with very low delivery prices. In the beginning, customers could enjoy the convenience of deliveries for as little as 15 birr. However, the pricing landscape has undergone a significant shift, with costs nearly tripling with an additional introduction of service charge.
Zmall is another Ethiopian food delivery startup that also sells items on its platform.
