Due to COVID-19, African Fintech D.C. Summit is postponed to October 2020 while the Alpha expo is to be hold virtually. It is remembered the Africa Fintech Summit Addis edition was hosted last year November.
Africa Fintech Summit (AFTS) is collaborating with leading accelerators, investors, and technology partners to offer Africa-focused fintech startups the first ever AFTS Virtual Bootcamp themed around supporting startups in their efforts to get “investor ready.”
What’s Included
Startups that are selected to participate in the Alpha Expo program receive the following:

1-day virtual bootcamp on April 16, 2020

2 complimentary delegate passes ($600 value) to AFTS DC in October 2020

An exhibition table at AFTS DC to promote and pitch your product

3 candidates will be selected to pitch at AFTS DC – the winner will be invited to pitch again at the Startup World Cup semi-finals in May 2021
Who Qualifies?
Any startup in fintech or a fintech- adjacent sector (InsurTech, TradeTech, AgTech+FinTech product, etc.) that:

Brings in less than US $1M in annual revenue

Is based in Africa or focuses predominantly on the African market

Operates in at least one African country
The Bootcamp sessions — led by IBM Hyper Protect Accelerator, Founders Factory Africa, Medici, Microsoft, Queen City Fintech, and Village Capital — will cover a range of topics, including:

Data protection and privacy

Product/market fit
-
Go-to-market strategy and execution

Co-selling to the enterprise

Investor readiness
After applying here, up to 15 startups in fintech and fintech-adjacent sectors will be selected to participate in the bootcamp on April 16, 2020.
Startups will then have 6 months to apply the lessons they’ve learned from the bootcamp before they can redeem their complimentary exhibition space — and the chance to pitch! — at our 5th summit, #AFTSDC2020, on October 16th in Washington, D.C.
