ETHSWITCH Facilitates 109K POS Transactions in 2020/21

Ethiopia's national switch operator founded by all commercial banks in the country has managed to earn 87.3 million birr in gross profits. It also obtained an 8.3 million dollar grant funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and additional 2.3 million from the African Development Bank. The switch operator was responsible for nearly 41.5% of all ATM transactions in the country. EthSwitch plays a major role in accelerating the advance of instant payment systems in Ethiopia due to its expansive reach and comprehensive integration.
